DEUTSCHE FLUGSCHEIBEN WETTERWAFFE
GERMAN FLIGHT DISC WEATHERWEAPON
(1943 Incident)

NOTE: Text is roughly translated from German to English and is shortened. Some portions of the text have been deleted as over-simplified descriptions of repeated material. Whenever possible “Flugscheiben” has been substituted for German Flight Disc(s) and some related cloud terminology has been added to explain the events involved in the Wetterwaffe Incident of 1943. The mentioned Frostbombe WAS actually an experimental German endothermic weapon that was laboratory tested late in the war but no product nor weapons testing was ever involved. This weapon research was captured by the Soviets.

A very well documented case of weather manipulation for the protection of German troops during the retreat of the island Corsica occurred on Sptember 28, 1943.
During the retreat of the island Corsica over to the Italian mainland large accumulations of troops gathered in the northeast of the island, near Bastia, because transport by ship was not proceeding fast enough. The Allies must have gotten word of it and therefore sent out a formation of bombers to strike the German troops. It would have become a terrible massacre if the following had not occurred: here is the recounted incident by a German soldier:
On this day it was again very hot, and the sky was cloudless. At 13:00 we heard from the distance strong engine noises. From that distance we saw a formation of approximately 25 four-engine bombers, which were approaching from the northern direction toward the airfield. They flew at approximately 500 meters height, and I had the impression that they had particularly come in order to bomb our well camouflaged position. They were at almost 500 meters away from us, when it began to rain suddenly with thick clouds that suddenly appeared over us. I expected each instant the releasing of bombs. However, the bomber group above us circled for more than five minutes before turning away and disappeared from our sight. The airplanes had hardly disappeared, when it became again bright with the sun. The clouds disappeared (evaporated) so rapidly, the same way they had appeared. All the soldiers were pleased that we had this good fortune. Twenty minutes afterwards we were once again alerted by engine noises, which approached now from the southern direction. With reconnaissance we saw the same bomber formation turning towards us. We were distributed at this time in a periphery of five kilometers around Bastia and near the Borgo airfield. And this time the sun shone brightly, at which the approaching bombers could accomplish their attack with the best view possible. They were again in the same distance and at the same height. Barely had the four-engine bombers approached when for the second time the sun was darkened by dark cloud bundles which were pushed near us, from which a close proximity of rain came down. This time the bombers circled longer over us and the city. The roar of their engines was to be heard for a long time. They were observing us. After approximately ten minutes they turned away. Again we were excited and grateful over this second good fortune, which had already appeared to us as a miracle. But thus, not enough. When the sun shone again and dried our steaming clothes, a third time this bomber formation came closely over the mountains not far away from where we had been fired at hours before by the artillery, so it would only take one or two minutes until they came this time with completely reliability for bomb release. It became dark a third time. Thick rain clouds appeared again and covered us with their close camouflage. After a few minutes of circling the bomber group again turned away, not to return again. From the distance we heard the bomb detonations of their releases. My men and I will never forget this three-way miracle of September 28, 1943. On this day we all celebrated our new “Birthdays”.
This threefold intervention can only be described as: a sudden bad weather zone, which besides being narrow-limited and always the same, was completely coordinated within a special area, going into action, with heavy rainfall. This cannot be easily explained, particularly since this spontaneous weather degradation, which in addition to being extremely expedient, nevertheless protected the German soldiers from certain destruction. The forces involved here could not be immediately identified - the question here concerned German flight discs (Flugscheiben) and the first war weather control tests - was this apparently what caused the miracle? How would the Flugscheiben accomplish this?
It is speculated that they created the “anti-cloud” moving formations and rain by this process. Into a warm air zone suddenly cold weather is introduced, of artificial origin, which draws all air humidity from the larger surrounding area. It results in rapid cloud bundles and with sufficient saturation, to rainfall. This cold air injection was aimed into this stronger, humidity loaded, warm Mediterranean climate of the island Corsica. Then this artificial cooling zone extracted the humidity from the surrounding warm air - probably very fast - and, because that cool air can hold far less humidity, leaves added heavy rainfall. Whether a 'Frostbombe' was necessary to create this cooling zone or it was chemically produced, it cannot be said with certainty. But is logical concerning the German flight discs.
The flight discs from large heights in the stratosphere, could actually “suck-in” cold air masses in a vortex to store within, later to cause a desired cooling effect purposefully; for example as necessary precondition for the three Corsica “Cloudbreaks” described above. The German frost bomb might have been possibly a parallel running weapons development on which the German flight disks are not at all dependent. The “Cloud-building” works much too accurately, too homogeneously, too artificially that they could not be of natural origin. Besides an unnatural turning effect is to be observed in these clouds; hence, the term “Anti-cloud“. In all probability, flight discs camouflage themselves either with natural clouds or artificially produced fog.”
